The Nature Guiding (NG) portfolio aims to spread the love for biodiversity in the NTU community. As one of the four Nature Pillar portfolios in Earthlink, Nature Guiding contributes knowledge in wildlife, with nature appreciation and conservation advocacy at its core.
Nature Guiding Activities
Our nature guides are trained to identify common taxa and captivate audiences by unveiling a side of nature many are not familiar with. As the name suggests, guiding is a major part of our committee’s activities. In the AdveNTUre walk, one of the annual flagship events, we specifically target the NTU community to raise awareness about our vibrant campus biodiversity. Other annual flagship events include the Mangrove Mystery Nature Trail, in which we explore the unique ecosystem of mangroves at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, and Bioblitz, a campus-wide surveying effort that contributes to citizen science. Nature Guiding is also a inclusive space that supports a love for wildlife. Our yearly nature-photography competition, Ecoclick, encourages participants to look at biodiversity from a different perspective. Our nature guides have also embarked on projects such as creating a Guide to the Birds of NTU (Do check it out! <Link>), as well as initiating specimen collection at NTU.
