Jing Xuan took part in the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) programme in 2019. In this year’s trip, besides top science & technology organisations, students had the opportunity to visit Minamisanriku, a town that was one of the worst hit during the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. Jing Xuan shares with us her takeaways from her meaningful experience in Japan!
Song Lin’s project on raising awareness for the Mekong Delta environmental crisis through a video-making workshop won him the AY2018/19 OG Distinguished Undergraduate Student Award (DUSA). He also went on a 6-month stint in Shanghai as part of the Overseas Entrepreneurship Programme (OEP). He shares with us his experience in these two exciting ventures!
Kon Wen Yu, an alumnus of the Physics and Applied Physics programme in NTU School of Physical & Mathematical Sciences clinched the Global Winner award in the “Mathematics and Physics” category of the Global Undergraduate Awards 2019.
Ng Zi Xuan, currently a fourth year Chemistry and Biological Chemistry (CBC) undergraduate in the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS), won the Gold medal in Chemical Laboratory Technology at WorldSkills Singapore 2018. She went on to represent Singapore in the WorldSkills Competition in Kazan, Russia in August 2019. We spent some time with Zi Xuan where she generously shared her WorldSkills experience.
The SBS Youth Expedition Project team spent 2 weeks of their summer break on a fulfilling and enriching youth expedition project to Myanmar. Within the short time span, our students educated the Burmese students from Parami Nunnery School on practical and useful knowledge applicable to their daily lives through engaging games, and concurrently helped with the construction of a toilet and kitchen walkway for the school.
