She attributes her giving nature to her father, and it is something she hopes to embody as part of his legacy. Her father, even when ill, paid visits to a relative and a family friend diagnosed with cancer to cheer them up.
NTU Physics professor Ranjan Singh elected Fellow of the Optical Society
Associate Professor Ranjan Singh has been elected as the Fellow of the Optical Society (OSA) for pioneering contributions to the field of terahertz science and technology through the development of active metamaterial platforms for sensing, ultrafast switching, and communication applications.

Meet WorldSkills Singapore gold medalist, Ng Zi Xuan!
Ng Zi Xuan, currently a fourth year Chemistry and Biological Chemistry (CBC) undergraduate in the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS), won the Gold medal in Chemical Laboratory Technology at WorldSkills Singapore 2018. She went on to represent Singapore in the WorldSkills Competition in Kazan, Russia in August 2019. We spent some time with Zi Xuan where she generously shared her WorldSkills experience.
Introducing Professor Simon Redfern, the new Dean of the College of Science
Professor Simon Redfern took the helm of the College of Science on the 1st of August 2019. He is also appointed President’s Chair in Earth Sciences. An Earth scientist and an accomplished experimental materials physicist, he received his MA and PhD in Mineral Sciences from the University of Cambridge in 1985 and 1989, respectively.
SBS Youth Expedition Project to Myanmar
The SBS Youth Expedition Project team spent 2 weeks of their summer break on a fulfilling and enriching youth expedition project to Myanmar. Within the short time span, our students educated the Burmese students from Parami Nunnery School on practical and useful knowledge applicable to their daily lives through engaging games, and concurrently helped with the construction of a toilet and kitchen walkway for the school.
