Karisoke Research Center has come a long way since 1967. Below are a list (not exhausive) of their current achievements.
- Increased tracking and anti-poaching staff
- Increase in gorilla population from 2003 to 2010, with the greatest number of increase spotted at areas monitored by Karisoke
- Supports public education and ecotourism
- Expanding research to support other rare local species of plants and animals
- Operation of a facility for rescued gorillas
- Providing primary school students with lesson materials
- Conducting conservation programs for secondary school students
- Trained local park staff and other conservation partners with biodiversity knowledge.
