Energy Efficient Singapore (E2PO)

This initiative is  more focused on promoting energy efficiency in Singapore. It is set up by a committee called Energy Efficiency Programme Office (E2PO) which consists of 11 statutory boards of Singapore including National Environmental Agency (NEA), Energy Market Authority (EMA), and Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR).

The two main reasons for the setting up of this intiative is
1) to reduce greenhouse gases which contribute to global warming
2) to save cost and energy

E2PO has also enacted several legislation to ensure a minimum standard of sustainability. This includes legislation of building standards (Building Control Regulations),  industry standards (Mandatory Energy Management Requirements), household appliances standards (Mandatory Energy Labelling Scheme, Minimum Energy Performance Standards) and vehicle standards (Fuel Economy Labelling Scheme).

Through legislation, a certain standard of sustainable behaviour can be maintained.
