The Live Earth concerts were something I remembered when I was much younger as a teen. It definitely caught my attention due to the big music acts that were part of this event as well as it being a large-scale event that took place around the world. It was held on July 7, 2007 in 12 cities across the Earth including cities like Tokyo, Johannesburg, Sydney, and Washington DC etc. It comprised of over 150 musical acts. Beyond the big names in the music industry being part of this event, they had a message behind the event that they wanted to bring across. The whole Live Earth event was centered on the aim to combat climate change and raise awareness about global warming.

The concert was streamed live by MSN on the Internet and it garnered the largest ever audience for an Internet event. 15.4 million people watched this event as it streamed for 24 hours across 8 cities. Even after the event was streamed live, MSN reported that people were still looking it up on the Internet such as the highlights of the events or to watch their favourite acts.

Despite the positive results from the screenings on the Internet, there were results that were slightly disappointing as well. Several television companies across the world including the United States, Great Britain and Australia, reported that the events only reached an average 2.8 million viewership per country. This was a poor result in comparison to Al Gore predicting that the event would unite over 2 billion people.
