With his father as U.S Senator, and having lived in the Fairfax hotel in Washington and being surrounded by politicians ever since he was young, it was not surprising for Al Gore to major in government in Harvard and to enter into politics. Initially wanting to be an attorney and hence attending law school, Al Gore saw a greater opportunity in the possibility in changing corruption by entering into Congress. His reason for being an attorney was due to his exposure to the reality of corruption as journalist. It was then he realized that he could only expose them but not changes it and thus wanted to be an attorney and later going into Congress.

When Al Gore was later on selected for the position of vice president, his father proudly mentioned that “Well, we raised him for it”
