[Workshop] Mengapa Kita Menulis? Atau Sebaliknya, Mengapa Kita Membaca? Why Do We Write? Or Rather, Why Do We Read? The work of writers, like Shakespeare and Rumi, endures for centuries because they write of the human condition. Their writings connect them to nature, spirituality, as well as the pains and joys of the material world which we can relate to across all of time and space. In this workshop run by Dr Nor Faridah Abdul Manaf, a Malaysian bilingual poet, short-story writer and novelist, participants will be taught techniques in the following basic elements of short-story writing: plot, theme, setting, character, dialogue, points of view and conflict. Participants will be trained to be writer-inspirers that can make this world a better place by inspiring others to be kind, hopeful and positive. After this workshop, participants should be able to write a short story that they can ready for publication. This programme is in Malay and is co-presented with the Singapore Writers Festival.
