With nostalgia and a sense of loss, Grilles By Rote project serves as a memoir of the memories people hold of local steel window grilles produced in the 1900s. Through a tapestry sliding screen system, these grille aesthetics are assimilated into modern living space to habitually help people grow awareness and understanding of these almost forgotten grille designs, which form an integral, yet overlooked part of our shared Singaporean heritage.
A hawker center accommodates a group of stalls selling a variety of cooked food in a sheltered and open complex with a common seating area for its customers. Its’ convenience, affordability and quality of food are the primary reasons why hawker centers continue to draw crowds today.
Hawker Centers are also the social leveler in Singapore where people of different backgrounds gather together. For many of us, it is the kitchen, dining and living room in our lives. However, a wide target audience results in a wide range of needs and wants. This project aims to reconsider what a new hawker center experience could be like and engage in a universal design methodology to meet the changing wants of its’ customers.

we revolves around integration, lifestyle and sustainability. It is an attempt to create functional apparel in hopes to lighten the load of caregivers of rare disorder children with salivation issue. Exploring various textiles and ways to make clothing aesthetically bright and cheerful, uplifting the spirits of caregivers and empowering children in addition to its functionality is the ultimate purpose of this project. Valuable interaction accumulated while working with a child with rare disorder and her parents to gain more insights about her life isn’t merely about creating functional clothing to meet the needs, most importantly, it shares and attempts to magnify the voices of special needs community in Singapore.
In a grander scheme of things, this project hope to touch the soft and sensitive part of us, deepening our understanding and embracing the differences and abilities of individuals.
A large proportion of food wastage within the home is due to users forgetting about what is stored in their fridge, thereby causing the food stored to exceed its expiry date. My project deals with the process of futuristic scenario where RFID tags are embedded into packaged perishable food, allowing easy tracking and visibility. Salvridge is a smart fridge that is equipped to sense these RFID tagged products and assists the users to manage their purchase and consumption of food.
