Does everyone knows how clothing are usually made? Clothing can be mass produced for everyone, professionally tailored in an Avant Garde fashion for models to parade in catwalks and perhaps knitted or sown for a love one to keep him/her covered. In today’s era where research has brought science a step further in development, fashion has grown along with it and adopted a new category known as Wearable Technology.
When we read “Wearable Technology”, we imagine a fusion of an outfit made out of hard technology…maybe something that looks like an action robot outfit like the Autobots in Transformers (2007), directed by Michael Bay, or the Jaegers in Pacific Rim (2013), directed by Guillermo del Toro. So, what exactly does the term Wearable Technology mean?
Wearable technology have many different categories. It can mean electronic fashion, interactive interfaces, scientific couture like bio couture, sensual apparels like a smart second skin, social fabric that liberates us from social conventions, garments that produces sound and material with healing properties.
I have shared two particular researches on my open source studio (OSS) website: Growing Clothes with Suzanne Lee and Gaze and Sound sensors
