I continued to make the rest of the skirt by attaching them together with the reinforcement of recycled felt provided by Galina, my awesome professor. (I ran out of felt since I only bought a piece of felt which I did not expect to use up so quickly) I sewn on the panels of the skirt to the felt with fishing thread. Under the guidance of Galina, I learnt that two identical strips of felt must be used if I want to achieve a strong reinforcement. If the two layers of felt are not identical, the metal panels wedged between the two layers of felt may fall out or may not retain their equal spacing apart from each other. I made a couple of mistakes not realising the issue, but manage to resolve the problem after consulting my professor.

To allow the skirt to curl up in an orderly manner, I need to ensure that the strings follow a straight direction along the vertical column of each panels. To ensure that the strings follow a straight direction, I placed 5 pieces of straws along the vertical axis of each of the 5 panels at the end of each panels. The straws are sewn onto the felt (back) and hidden behind another piece of felt (front) to serve to give direction to the strings when a pulling action is made, so that the panels do not move sideways but curl upwards vertically.

I sewn on two strips of Velcro to the back of the skirt so that I can adjust the skirt freely. This free adjustment is very important to ensure that I have enough room at the front of the felt to hide my electronics which I will add in at a later part.
