When my brother first heard I was doing a project on panda conservation, his first reaction was ‘Why pandas? They’re useless wastes of resources!’. He then continued with a whole list of reasons why pandas should be left to die.

It is because of people like this that I decided to make my blog topic panda conservation.

While this shows awareness of conservation issues, it is not good that some of us are willing to just let a species die out because it isn’t useful enough or receives too much attention. Just because pandas receive a disproportionate amount of resources is not reason enough to wish for an entire species’death.

In an ideal world, we would not have to justify saving a rare and beautiful species from extinction. However, this is not an ideal world and so, in this blog i try to point out some reasons why pandas are important and should be helped.
