About Me

Hi, I am Phyllis! Steve Irwin has accompanied me through my childhood when I was just a young child that was only allowed to watch TV from 9am to 12pm every Sunday. The Crocodile Hunter will be playing in the morning, and my brother and I will spend an hour in awe at his adventures, and secretly being envious of Bindi’s cool dad. We would pretend to be on one of Steve’s adventure and jump over the sofa grabbing hold onto our cushions and shout “Crikey! Now ain’t she a beauty!”. I do not know much conservation, and quite honestly it never occurred to me that Steve was one; to the 10 year old me, Steve was just a really cool, fearless guys that taught us how to respect and love nature, and also if you have the right training and knowledge, you can handle a really venomous snake with no problem.

His death was sudden, but he died doing something he loved, something I wish I could do in the future. He left behind a long legacy for his family and the public to emulate. His fearless and child-like enthusiastic approach towards nature has definitely inspired many to follow in his footsteps.
