The Last Rhinos

Published on 3 July 2012

This book details Lawrence Anthony’s attempts in saving the Northern White Rhinos in Congo. Like in Babylon’s Ark, these endangered rhinos live in a war-raved country. Additionally, there is also a striving black market for rhino horns, thus exposing these endangered beasts to even more threat; poaching. With the realization of the imminent wiping out of this sub species, Anthony willingly dives into danger to persuade the resistance army in Congo to play their part in protecting the rhinos. This book thus tells of an inspiring story of conservation in spite of brutal wars and differing interests.

This book will move animal lovers worldwide as it recounts the efforts that Anthony has invested in in a species different from his. Readers can definitely feel his sincerity in helping these animals and be touched by his value of life outside of himself.  In this current day, the last four remaining Northern White Rhinos are believed to have died from poaching. This sad outcome thus makes the book all the more heart-wrenching.
