His Memorial

Two memorials were held for Wayne Lotter, one in Dar es Salaam and one in South Africa for his family members.

His first memorial was attended by people he met and those whom he had inspired. There were Tanzanian government officials, fellow conservationists, Chinese embassy representatives, foreign dignitaries, his friends and colleagues. All of them gave Wayne a standing ovation at the end. In the words of PAMS cofounder Krissie Clark:

Everyone clapped and clapped and clapped and clapped and stood up, one could feel the emotion in the air. The love for Wayne was evident.

Unlike a typical memorial, there were music and even games at Wayne’s memorial! It seems like his friends wanted to commemorate him in a joyful manner.
