Individual

One of the key to successful conservation efforts is individual efforts. Much of conservation psychology have been focusing on how to change and promote sustainable behavior, and it all starts with you. While the effects from individual effort seems to be small and fleeting, they may play a huge role over a long period of time. So what can you do to start?

The basic 3Rs

Although the 3Rs may not have a direct impact on conservation efforts of biodiversity in Southeast Asia, it could have an impact after a period of time – similar to that of the butterfly effect. Considering that the Earth’s ecosystem is a giant web, small efforts could translate to significant results.

Mindfulness

Be mindful of what you buy as a consumer! A common defense towards conservation is that consumers don’t feel the responsibility for buying the product.

But the truth is, manufacturers only create goods that are in demand. By purchasing a certain product, you are giving your approval. Therefore, be more wary. You can start by using palm oil which is certified by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) 😉

Sharing

Sharing is caring! By sharing the information you learn with your friends, you may inspire another person to be like you and participate in conservation efforts!

Be Daring

It may be a slow and long journey where the rewards are not immediate, but effort counts! Take a leap of faith and go for it. Here is a little confidence booster for you 🙂
