Palm Oil as a Key Source of Jobs

Palm oil plantations is a threat to the orang-utans and a key source of jobs for the locals. With Indonesia’s current economy, there is a problem as to how to keep the palm oil industry under control without compromising the availability of jobs for the locals. Allowing the palm oil plantations to continue its operations, would threaten the population of the orang-utans but it ensures that the people have a job and vice versa. Hence, it will be a challenge as to how to prevent the further decline of the orang-utan population yet making sure that the palm oil industry does not suffer.
