Time and energy consuming

“I’m just too busy!”

I had never used dryer for my laundry before I came to Singapore 3 years ago. Seriously, I had several Monday mornings where all my uniforms were hung wet at the backyard and my mom had to dry it in front of a fan. But now, I have to admit I often use the dryer in the hostel laundry room, even when I have to spend an extra dollar or two (the machine is coin-operated). Why? This way, I can have my clothes dried within one hour instead of one day.

People need instant gratification. In this era where time is compressed and people are kept busy the whole time, people like to have everything ready in a flash.

Therefore, we might think ‘Why do I need to spend time mixing baking soda and water? I can just buy one, that would be faster.’

True. But please get a green product if you happen to buy one.

If you can’t find any green cleaning products available anywhere, you can make one.

Don’t start complaining. Think it this way.

On average, Singaporeans spend 8 hours on Facebook every month. That is 480 minutes.

Set aside 5 minutes from this time (or your work or study time if you really can’t be apart from Facebook) and use it to make your own green homemade solution.

You will have enough stock of green cleaning agent for the month and the following months.

Again, making your own cleaning agent is cheaper and as you can see, does not cost so much time.

If money is not a problem for you, try one of these green cleaning services. At least there is a time each month where you don’t injure the environment.

Afterall, saving the planet requires an extra effort, just like studying to get an A grade or moving away to get a better job. Nowadays, I always force myself to hangdry my clothes instead of using the dryer. Although I need a little bit more energy and time to do this, at least I don’t have to pay $1.
