Labrador Nature Reserve is also sometimes referred as Labrador Park and is situated at the southern side of Singapore. As it is located near the edge of Singapore’s mainland, this nature reserve offers its visitor a beautiful sea view.
Just like the other nature reserves, Labrador Nature Reserve has a rich biodiversity. It has 70 species of birds, 11 kinds of butterflies, a few species of trees and many other insects, despite having only 0.1km² of secondary coastal vegetation.
There are unique features that distinguishes Labrador Nature Reserve and the other nature reserves. Firstly, it contains the Singapore main island’s last rocky sea-cliff. Secondly, it contains genuine relics from the World War II period, when Singapore was under the British ruling. These remnants that still exist today not only provide a memorial for Singapore’s military history, it also has educational value. The visitors, especially students, are able to have a better idea of our history when they tour and look at the fort and secret tunnels that are left behind.
