Consumers can do their part by selecting sustainable products, and only support products that employ zero deforestation policies in their production processes. The boycotting of non-environmentally friendly products and firms will motivate these firms to be sustainable as well, in order to remain attractive to consumers to retain their profits.

In addition, individual consumers can also educate their friends and family on the effects of their consumption so as to spread awareness, allowing them to make an informed decision. As more and more people will understand the current environmental degradation, and this makes boycotting of firms with bad environmental practices more effective.
