Congress

Al Gore quit Vanderbilt law school and ran for the House of Representatives when there was an opening. He eventually entered Congress in 1976 and went on the win in 1978, 1980 and 1982 as well. He was part of the Energy and Commerce and the Science and Technology committees.

Al Gore was also known as one of the Atari Democrats. The Atari Democrats were a group of politicians who share the same passion for environmental issues and high-technology research. Al Gore had a passion for biomedical research, genetic engineering and environmental issues.

He also held the first congressional hearings on climate change and co-sponsored legislation to create a “superfund” for toxic waste and hearings on global warming.
