  • STA Travel
    One of the largest travel agency, STA Travel has stopped tours taking in elephant rides as well as trips to SeaWorld in Orlando et cetera. They are reviewing they trips involving animal contact to ensure what it is believed to be meeting ethical standards demanded by its customers. Moreover, STA Travel has been participating in volunteer, conservation work and education trips. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) have provided STA Travel with advices as to how they can go about leading the way in “compassionate” tourism (Meikle, 2014).

  • Responsible Travel
    During Spring 2014, Responsible Travel (RT) has implemented their new policy as of 31st July 2014 that they are no longer promoting elephant trekking or elephant riding trips on RT. Moreover, they are not going to promote any form of elephant trick shows. Additionally, they are providing the responsible travellers with the information to make informed decisions while travelling through an online travel guide to “Elephants in tourism – right or wrong?” (Brown, n.d.).
