1. Does AMIC/SCI-NTU allow us to archive the paper’s published version? No, authors should not be posting the PDF of the publishers version (aka the “version of record”) unless they have chosen to publish their article Open Access2. If the published version is not allowed, which version is accepted for deposit:
a) Accepted version (aka “Accepted Manuscript”) – this refers to the final draft after peer review (if any) that is accepted for publication. However, it does not contain the branding, formatting, font etc of the actual published version. Yes
b) Other versions – please provide additional details Authors may also wish to post their Original Manuscript. This is also known as a “preprint”.
3. Is there a specific time frame where they are allowed to deposit their paper in DR-NTU? For example, can electronic copies be deposited at the stage of acceptance by the Editors, before publication, after publication etc.
a) Taylor and Francis authors can post their Accepted Manuscript (AM) on their departmental or personal website at any point after publication of the article (this includes posting to Facebook, Google groups and LinkedIn, and linking from Twitter). To encourage citation of their work we recommend that they insert a link from their posted AM to the published article on Taylor & Francis Online with the following text:
“This is an Accepted Manuscript of an article published by Taylor & Francis in [JOURNAL TITLE] on [date of publication], available online: http://www.tandfonline.com/ [Article DOI].”
For example: “This is an Accepted Manuscript of an article published by Taylor & Francis Group in Africa Review on 17/04/2014, available online: http://www.tandfonline.com/10.1080/12345678.1234.123456”. (Using a real DOI will form a link to the Version of Record on www.tandfonline.com/.)
However, embargoes apply for institutional repositories such as DR-NTU and academic social networks such as academic.edu, ResearchGate, Mendeley etc. For Asian Journal of Communication, the embargo period is 18 months.
