The Convocation Journey at NTU Library
Convocation signifies the completion of students’ university education and the start of a new phase in their life. NTU Library is happy to have been a part of our students’ journey and would like to congratulate the Class of 2018 graduates on their accomplishment. To commemorate this special occasion, we created a special journey at Lee Wee Nam Library (North Spine) for all graduating students to take away as memories for their keepsake.
To start off the journey, the iconic and popular staircase at the entrance of Lee Wee Nam Library was decorated with graduation themed stickers where many graduates stopped over to take photos with their friends and family members. From there the graduates and their guests were personally invited into the library by NTU Library staff and student assistants where they were greeted by a special NTU Library graduation photo backdrop at The Trantor area. They enjoyed a photo session against the backdrop with specially designed props that were made for the occasion. They were encouraged to snap and share their memories across social media platforms with the unique hashtag we had created – #Convo2018NTUsgLibrary. In addition, they wrote their messages on the Wish Wall @ The Trantor that was built using the colourful building blocks recently acquired by the Library.
NTU Library is happy to have received more than 200 graduates who visited Lee Wee Nam Library during the convocation period from 24 July to 2 August to take photos, write well wishes and create wonderful memories. Click here to view photo highlights.
Library Services for Alumni
During their visit, the graduates were also informed that their journey with NTU Library does not end when they leave the NTU campus. They were presented flyers with information on how they can apply for alumni membership with the library and be entitled to a wide range of resources and services available such as:
- Free membership for the first year upon graduation
- Generous borrowing privileges
- On-site access for selected databases and e-journals
In addition, alumni members can also enjoy remote access to four databases: BMI Research, MarketLine Advantage, Emerald Insight and Project Muse via the ASSOC network account.
For more information and to apply, graduates can visit the website.
Giving to NTU Library
A special booth was also set up during this convocation period for graduates to understand the purpose of the Library Enhancement and Development Fund and how the library is constantly working on developing its information, knowledge and library services further. Through this booth, graduates made generous contributions to the fund and all donors were honored with an exclusive pin button as a token of appreciation.
