The inaugural Research Services Task Force (RSTF) Webinar started with a welcome speech from Kamaludeen Rafi, Head of Technologies and Resources Division, NTU Library, and opening address by Bethany Wilkes, SMU University Librarian and Chair of RSTF. Both of them highlighted the important role of institutional repository in managing research data.

The webinar progressed with Goh Su Nee (NTU Library) and Amy Chou (NTU Library) facilitating the discussion on Managing Sensitive Data. The discussion revolved around best practices when collecting, using and archiving sensitive research data. Librarians from other academic institutions actively contributed to the lively discussion.

During the Q&A, participants and speakers were interacting through both the written chat and verbal comments. The conclusion? Research data management is a marathon, not a sprint. It takes time to engage stakeholders and build the RDM services. A community of practice, such as RSTF webinar, allows Data Librarians and Data Managers to tap on each other’s experience and run the “marathon” together.
