Eleven schools in NTU participated in the 2020 Three Minute Thesis NTU Finale, which was held in mid-August largely as a virtual competition due to COVID-19. The Three Minute Thesis challenges research students to effectively explain the significance of their projects to a non-specialist audience in just three minutes.
A team of students from the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) has achieved an outstanding result in the International Mathematics Competition (IMC) 2020, earning 2 Silvers, 1 Bronze, and 2 Honourable Mentions.

Held from 21st October to 13th December 2019, students, staff and faculty of CoS were invited to create original, science-inspired artworks.
The winners were presented a prize by the Dean of Science, Professor Simon Redfern, at CoS Day 2020.
Yeng Jia Wen, Jamie, represented School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) at the 10th University Scholars Leadership Symposium (USLS). From inspiring keynote speakers to giving back to the society, Jamie gives us a glimpse into her rewarding experience in KL.
Ng Zi Xuan, currently a fourth year Chemistry and Biological Chemistry (CBC) undergraduate in the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS), won the Gold medal in Chemical Laboratory Technology at WorldSkills Singapore 2018. She went on to represent Singapore in the WorldSkills Competition in Kazan, Russia in August 2019. We spent some time with Zi Xuan where she generously shared her WorldSkills experience.
An SBS PhD student from Asst Prof Amartya Sanyal’s lab, Ankur represented Singapore to compete against the other representatives from Australia, New Zealand, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Brunei, Myanmar and Taiwan. His presentation on his research relating to explore the gene regulatory mechanisms of liver in different physiological and pathological conditions using mouse liver as a model eventually won him the honour.
From 28 July to 3 August 2019, a team of four NTU students participated in the International Mathematics Competition (IMC) for University Students, led by Team Leader Dr Fedor Duzhin. Congratulations to the winners!
