The National Institute of Education is seeking creative, service-oriented and highly motivated librarians who have an eye for detail to join the Library and Information Services as a Manager (Cataloguing and Metadata Services) and as a Manager (Library Systems). Candidate must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Position: Manager (Cataloguing and Metadata Services)

Requirements:
A good University degree and a recognised postgraduate qualification in Library and/or Information Science with a minimum of 5 years of cataloguing and metadata management experience, preferably in an academic library environment.

Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction in cataloguing and metadata management of print and electronic resources.
• Responsible for managing the cataloguing module of the library system and quality of the library catalogue
• Responsible for development of policies, procedures and standards for cataloguing and metadata services
• Serving as resource person for cataloguing and metadata issues
• Participating in collection development, instructional programmes and outreach initiatives
• Providing reference and research services on scheduled evening and weekend shifts
• Leading / collaborating on library projects, peer training and staff development

Position: Manager (Library Systems)

Requirements:
A good University degree and a recognised postgraduate qualification in Library and/or Information Science, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in library system administration, technology planning and budgeting, preferably in an academic library environment.

Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction in administration of the integrated library system (SIRSIDynix) and related applications.
The job scope includes:
• Managing the integrated library system (SIRSIDynix), including development and maintenance of interfaces between SIRSIDynix and other systems, integration of locally developed and third party applications, and functional support for SIRSIDynix modules
• Responsible for development of policies, procedures and standards for integrated library system and related applications
• Serving as principal point of contact with the vendors, computer personnel and library staff to resolve operational issues
• Participating in web development, instructional programmes and outreach initiatives
• Providing reference and research services on scheduled evening and weekend shifts
• Leading / collaborating on library projects, peer training and staff development

University graduates without relevant experience or library qualifications may also apply for the post of Assistant Librarian. The successful candidate may be supported to complete a Master degree in Information Studies on a part-time basis.
