It is like a dream that I met one of the great writers of this modern era, Poet Perundevi. Being a fan of her writings, I’m so excited to attend her in-class experience. Tamil modern poetries have multiple dimensions. From this workshop, I found how a single word in a modern poem would widen the meanings and perspectives. She taught us some details that I missed in my early readings. I had no idea of the poetry form “Ethir Kavithaigal”. After her training, I realize this form is not against any poetry. I also learned some poems from the poet Nicanor Parra, translated into Tamil.

She taught us how poetry themes and forms vary in other languages. It was also interesting to discuss poetry-related articles and the exercise of writing poems on the spot. Perundevi, having conducted the training in a way of discussion helped the pupils express their views openly and precisely. Personally, I learned about the mistakes I usually make in my poems and how to avoid them.
