Due to the conflicting interests of the artist; from her introverted, and exceedingly people-shy nature, to her voracious interest in the outside world, she settles for reading to learn more about the world. She spends many hours, both in childhood and in adulthood hiding away from other people, reading books, and hunting for more stories to satisfy her curiosity. Unlike other children, from young, the stories that interested her most were not tales with happy endings, but tales that were filled with dark humor and satire. In her work, she both explores the lesser-known darker aspects of the original fairy tales that she read in her childhood, and seeks to learn more about their origins.

“Fairy” Tales is a collection of stories that are familiar to most people, young and old. It features many familiar childhood tales recreated scores of times, such as Red Riding Hood, Cinderella and the like. However, unlike the polished and heavily censored versions known to most through Disney nowadays, these photographs seek to recreate the first documented versions of these tales, in all their twisted and horrifying glory.
