Hi there!

I am Yi Juan, a 3rd year student majoring in Business (Human Resource Consulting), with a minor in Psychology.

I am taking Conservation Psychology in order to apply my knowledge of human behaviours towards understanding environmental issues. Due to the relative lack of natural environments in Singapore, I love to visit such places whenever I travel overseas!

I travelled to Kaoshiung recently, and was impressed that despite widespread human intervention, the natural scenes are still largely preserved! Human and nature can indeed co-exist with each other.

As seen, natural seas are clear and preserved despite human infrastructures along its coastline

Hence, I developed an interest in finding out more about such human-nature interactions. I believe that Conservation Psychology will be helpful in enhancing our understanding of the behaviours and attitudes behind such interactions.

So, why did I choose climate change as my topic?

When I returned to Singapore after my Kaoshiung trip, I was shocked to realise that it was nearly as cold as Kaoshiung! People were wearing thicker jackets than what will normally be worn in tropical countries like Singapore. The rains were also insistent…This weather erraticness can be attributed to one of climate change’s effect…To find out more, I proceeded on a mission to explore this issue in-depth.
