Like named under the tab general information, 55% of the Netherlands has a risk of floods and  29% has a risk of floods of rivers. The map below shows the risk of floods (2009).

Translation of the legend:
– Red: high danger, high vulnerability
– Yellow: low danger, high vulnerability
– Blue: high danger, low vulneralbility
– (Dark) Grey & white: danger and vulnerability low or not present

As you can see, there is quite a part of the Netherlands at high risk for floods (all the blue and red areas). Fortunately, it also shows that the vulnerability is low at most places (all the blue ares). This is mainly because of the actions the Dutch government undertakes to protect the country, you can read more about this under the tab measures.
