Centre for Urban Greenery and Ecology

Today, NParks trains the next generation of professionals in the landscaping industry by establishing the Centre for Urban Greenery and Ecology (CUGE). CUGE was set up in 2007 with the aim to provide certification and training for individuals who wish to pursue a career in landscaping and urban planning.

This is highly essential because trained professionals who have a deeper understanding of ecology issues are equipped to understand the challenges of urban greening. They are able to adopt different perspectives and develop a plan of action that best addresses these challenges. By training our citizens to the highest standards, their increased competency can help to develop better green initiatives in the future.

The institute also carries out research programs that look into areas such as sky rise greenery, integration of greenery into urban landscapes and so on so forth. This helps Singapore to remain forward looking and continue to improve on our current methods.
