Green Belt Safaris

Green Belt Safaris is an eco-safari operating company based in Nairobi and is a subsidiary of GBM. The Green Belt Safaris are initiatives established as part of the business development plan in order the Green Belt Movement to earn an income in order to sustain itself financially. Many of the non-profit organisations depends on external funding to sustain the organisation, the existence of GBM is one of such organisations.

The Green Belt Movement Eco-experience
This is flagship experience of the GBS where visitors are able to have a firsthand experience of the work of the communities in the Green Belt Movement, immersing in the culture and learning more about the history of the Green Belt Movement. From here they can understand more about Professor Wangari Maathai’s  visions and the core values and goals of the movement.

Green Belt Movement’s Educational Safaris
An Educational Safari is a structured experiential programme for students which includes talks and visits to sites of  historical environmental signifcance. The programme last for around 7-14 days.

Green Belt Movement At a Glance
“At a Glance” is a programme for people who are interested and want to familiarise themselves with GBM activities in the  field. It will be a 1-2 days long trip involving with an overnight stay with the community or in a hotel. Visitors will be in close collaboration with the key staffs of GBM who are involved in implementation of programmes in the organisation.

Green Belt Movement’s Plant for Kenya
Plant for Kenya is one of GBM’s effort to scale up tree planting activities in forests around watershed areas. It typically last for 3-5 days. The initiative allows for both international and local support to have an experience of and insight into the work of the organisation. The packages are planned around the planting season, which is during rainy periods. Not only does it place the focus on tree-planting activities, it also allow visitors to engage in inter-cultural exchange with the locals through community home stays.
