The Washington Post is an American daily newspaper published in Washington D.C. They started a program, Newspaper in Education (NIE) to extend their support in education.

In November 2001, NIE exposed students to Sumatran tigers’ conservation. Students were allowed to research on rare and endangered species, after reading about an article published in the Newspaper. In addition, articles “Earning His Stripes” and “Tigers in Trouble” also stimulus the students to further study the remaining subspecies of tigers, which includes Sumatran tigers (Washington, 2016).
