About Me

¡Holá! I am Kar Gin, a third year psychology student from Nanyang Technological University. As a swimmer, my huge appetite and the variety of choice that Singapore offers turned me into a foodie.I love everything about food – the taste, the preparation, the ingredients and more importantly, the ability it has to connect people. Sometimes, I like to watch food recipe videos by Tasty and attempt them!

Growing up, i often hear phrases as such – “Don’t waste your food, think how lucky you are compared to the kids in Africa”, “Finish up the rice in your bowl, if not later your husband has ugly marks on his face” – to constantly remind me not to waste my food as i whine of being too full or unable to finish my plate. It is also perhaps my family upbringing that cause me to more conscious to not waste food, and it is only now that I realise how much truth these words hold. The impact of food wastage is far beyond our imagination! As such, I’ve decided to embark on this project to shed light on the impact of food waste in Singapore, and how a small act can make a huge difference.
