Elephants are herbivores and their favorite is grass, even though they also eat leaves, vines and fruit. They love fruit grown by humans, such as bananas and sugarcane, but this often tempts them to risk raiding farmer’s crops. They only need to drink water once a day, but they drinks lots – about 70-90 liters (15 to 20 gallon).
