Well-being of the population

According to one of the studies by Bjorn Grinde and Grete Grindal Patil, they concluded that an environment devoid of any visual of plants or nature will have negative impacts. This is because, as the Biophilia Hypothesis has mentioned, there is a bond between mankind and living things – to love life and living systems. To be separated from that bond, it will mean to break that bond. Therefore, it is so vital for urbanized cities like Singapore, to build parks in the midst of the urbanization. Urban parks create a platform to strengthen the bond.

According to “Creating the Garden City: The Singapore Experience”, it states that one of the benefits of urban parks is to maintain the physical and moral well-being of the urban population. The needs of recreation and leisure were met through such urban parks. Furthermore, parks are also places where everyone from the neighbourhood assimilates.

One of the most prominent phenomenons that we are facing is the Urban Heat Island (UHI). According to Innovation Magazine, one of the ways to mitigate this is to introduce more green spaces to the country. Therefore, urban parks are green spaces where trees and plants were planted to reduce the heat emitted from the concrete from urbanization.
