All about Cigarettes

Cigarette butts have a biodegradability that may take years to break down as they are made of cellulose acetate, a plastic that does not degrade easily in the environment.
Cigarette butts can release toxic into the ocean which affects the marine creatures and the aquatic ecosystem.

One study found that one cigarette butt soaked in a litre of water killed half of the fish exposed. This shows the toxicity of just one cigarette butt, we have many more that has been washed into the ocean.

Cigarette butts are one of the most commonly most litter in Singapore. As you may have seen the photos I have taken in East Coast Park, many of them do not just have one cigarette butt.. Tons of them can be found at the same area!
