Application of Psychology

In general, the relationship between humans and wildlife involves a complex interaction. The natural environment provides human with basic needs to live, including food, water, and air to breathe. On the other hand, it is also modified by our actions, and is irrevocably altered whenever one of us changes it. The increasing consumptive behaviour are limiting the available natural resources, thereby are endangering the very survival of wildlife.

Of practical relevance is the need to understand the various thought processes that form the basis of human behaviour toward banded leaf monkeys and management of natural resources. Thus, this section explores the human dimensions of the banded leaf monkey situation. In particular, it examines factors that influence human attitudes towards banded leaf monkeys and the psychological barriers towards conservation. Lastly, it discusses the role of natural environment in a person’s quality of life.
