Singapore Medical Journal

Published by the Singapore Medical Association, the Singapore Medical Journal is a monthly, open access publication that focuses on all aspects of human health. The journal aims to “advance medical practice and clinical research” through the publication of high-quality content that supplements the clinical knowledge of physicians and medical personnel in not just Singapore but across the globe. Types of content include original research articles, reviews, commentaries and editorials as well as case reports.

Annals of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore

Published by the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, The Annals is a refereed month journal. The journal covers a variety of specialities and disciplines, selected by an editorial board of experts and full-time professionals in their respective fields. While this journal is distributed free to members of the organisation, but there is a select handful of articles available online.

The Medical Library now has a subscription to the Annals, which you may access via EZproxy.

Proceedings of Singapore Healthcare

Owned by SingHealth and published by SAGE Publishing, the Proceedings of Singapore Healthcare (PSH) is an open access peer-review journal published quarterly. The journal not only covers topics in medicine but a wide variety of clinically-relevant areas as well. This includes Medical education, nursing, public health, epidemiology, pharmacology, translational research and much more. While the focus of research is in the Southeast Asian region, the journal includes articles from all over the world and from all levels of expertise, as long as the research is of direct clinical relevance.

The PSH is an open access journal, where articles can be viewed and downloaded for free from the publisher’s site.

Singapore Family Physician

First published in 1975, the Singapore Family Physician (SFP) is published by the College of Family Physicians Singapore. It is published quarterly and primarily covers clinical updates and topics that support medical education for the local community of Singapore. The journal also serves as the course material for the “Family Practice Skills Course” conducted by the organisation.

Singapore Dental Journal

The Singapore Dental Journal (SDJ) is an annual publication from the Singapore Dental Association, published at the end of the year in December. With the aim of advancing the practice of dentistry in the region, the journal covers all fields related to the practice of modern-day dentistry as well as oral medicine, surgery and pathology. This is done through the circulation of information and research findings in the above fields.

While the latest issue of the journal can be downloaded whole from the association’s homepage, you may download individual articles from Elsevier.

Singapore Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology

A journal with a long history that begun as the Bulletin of the Kandang Kerbau Hospital (KKH) for Women in 1956, it is the official publication of the Singapore Obstetrical & Gynaecological Society. It was formerly known as the Proceedings of the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society until it changed to its current name in 1977. The reason for the change was to highlight the expansion of the journal’s role beyond reporting the academic activities of the society. Today, the journal hosts original articles covering all aspects of obstetrics and gynaecology, catering to both members of the society and medical professionals Singapore and Asia.

Articles from this journal can only be found on the Society’s site, but note that older issues of the journal are not available for viewing or download.
