Web of Science is an online multidisciplinary bibliographic resource that contains many journal articles in various disciplines. Topics covered by this database include the physical and life sciences, health sciences, social sciences, and arts and humanities.

Web of Science is available on the Database list under the “Citation Databases”, accessible on the NTU library’s homepage. To learn how to search for databases using the homepage, click here.  Alternatively, you can access the database directly using this link.

The default search page in Web of Science is Basic Search. Type in your keywords to the search box(es).

You can use the pull-down menus to aid in refining search. On the left, if you had added another search bar/field, you can select Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT). On the right, you can select the category of your search term (Topic, Title, Author etc.). In addition, you can select the range of years in which the articles were published under “Timespan” below the main search box.

On the Results page, you can do several things. First, you can further refine your search, using the column on the left. There are various limiters such as publication year, language and subject. You can also browse through citations and mark them for printing, saving or emailing.

There is also a Full Text option, located on the top. With this you can learn how to access the full-text of the article (via “Find it @NTU” or “Full text from publisher”) or where a print format may be located in NTU Libraries. There are also other useful options available on the same bar.
