Mini T6 Linear Actuator

We purchased a 50 and a 100 mm mini T6 linear actuators.

100 mm mini T6 linear actuator

The 100 mm mini T6 is bought as one of the few alternatives of the motor used for controlling the vertical motion of microsyringe and micropipette plungers.

The pros and cons of the mini T6 linear actuator are as follow:

➕   Lighter than Z-axis sliding table (around 650 – 700 g lighter) hence it does not add as much load to the stepper motors on the 3D printer, especially the X-axis and Z-axis stepper motors of our chassis.

➖   Not as strong as the NEMA17 stepper motor with Z-axis sliding table, hence it may not be durable for long-term uses, especially for the micropipette system.

Stronger models are available for similar linear actuators however they are very costly, hence we have decided to go with the NEMA17 motor with Z-axis slide table alternative.

We are currently using the 50 mm model for our micropipette system to control the ejecting motion of the micropipette tips.
