Biography

I am Xueyi and currently a Year 2 undergraduate majoring in Psychology at Nanyang Technological University. I enrolled unintentionally into the course of Conservation Psychology and since then my interest for conservation issues was sparked. I might not have much knowledge on many conservation issues as of now, but having to do up this blog has definitely allowed me to get in touch with many of the different conservation issues in the world.

When I was first task to do up a blog on conservation, I was pretty lost. Sad and ashamed to say this, but I am not really aware of the many conservation issues in the world. While I was conversing and discussing on possible topics with my friends and family members, shark finning issues were of the most common ones.

I started doing some research on sharks and issues pertaining to them. Researches have unanimously reflected that shark finning is the major cause for the decline of the shark population. And to my horror, I am actually one of the many culprits who is guilty for this major cause; or in fact, we are all once culprits for this.

With further researches done, I chanced upon this video on shark finning. It hurts me so bad. Imagining myself getting caught, suffocated, being defenceless and being aware of having all my limbs sliced off – THAT, is worse than dying. The video can be found under Shark Finning.

Thus, I have decided to embark on a journey on the Conservation of Sharks. Through all these researches, I have gained a lot of knowledge and they are humbly presented in this blog. Some of you might have zero knowledge on sharks too, but I believe that through this blog, you will be able to gain a little knowledge on sharks as well as some conservation efforts that you can play a part in to help keep the shark population safe.
