Climate change which includes increase temperatures (global warming), changes in rainfall patterns, more erratic weather events all has deficit impacts on the honey bees. This is reflected through the higher extinction rates of pollinator species (UNEP,2010).
The patterns of flowering depend heavily on the climate changes of the environment. The changes in climate and flowering patterns affect the interaction between pollinators and their food source. This can cause the honey bees and other pollinators to suffer from food shortages when the flowering plants behaviours are modified. Scientists have concluded that the effects of such climate change are potential extinction of some pollinators and plants as the interactions between pollinators and plants are key to a healthy ecosystem.
