As Gore is an investor in green-technology companies, he faced an alleged conflict of interest for advocating for taxpayer subsidies of green-energy technologies in which he has a personal investment. Critics claimed that he gained a lot of benefit from it, hence the label of a “carbon billionaire”. Gore responded that he invested purely in accordance of his beliefs and values of a green economy. He also added that all profit from his investments have gone to The Climate Reality Project.
