Albert Arnold Gore Jr is born

Gore enrols at Harvard

He majors in English, with a dream to become a novelist. At the same time, he discovers a passion for politics. He becomes interested in the topic of global warming after taking a course with Professor Roger Revelle.

Gore graduates with B.A. from Harvard University and enters military

Gore marries Mary Tipper

Gore ends military and goes to Vanderbilt University Divinity School

Gore is supposed to go to law school in Vanderbilt as his parents wanted but he attends religion school first, especially since he feels dispirited after his military return.

Gore works as an investigative reporter for the Tennessean

His investigations of corruptions among members of Nashville’s Metro Council resulted in the arrest and prosecution of two councilmen for separate offenses.

Gore attends Vanderbilt University Law School

Gore decides that he wants to be an attorney as he feels that being a journalist, he could only expose corruption but not change them.

Gore runs for the House of Representatives

Gore abruptly leaves law school to to run for the House of Representatives and wins a Congress seat. Gore holds first congressional hearings on climate change, and co-sponsors hearings on toxic waste and global warming. He is later re-elected for congress in 1978, 1980, and 1982.

Gore runs for a seat in the United States Senate

Gore serves as a Senator for Tennessee.

Gore runs for president but loses the Democratic nomination

Earth in the Balance is published

Makes it to the The New York Times Best Seller list.

Gore becomes the 45th vice-president of the United States

As vice-president, he pushes for the implementation of a carbon tax to modify incentives to reduce fossil fuel consumption.

Gore and Clinton are re-elected

Gore is still the vice-president alongside Clinton who is the president for their second term.

Gore runs for president and loses to George Bush

Gore wins popular vote but loses electoral vote.

An Inconvenient Truth is released

The film documentary wins two Academy Awards for Best Documentary Feature and Best Original Song. It becomes the eleventh highest grossing documentary film to date in the United States.

Gore wins Nobel Peace Prize

A shared award with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power is released

A sequel to the film documentary An Inconvenient Truth, which shows Gore’s continuing mission to battle climate change.
